As I understand it, because he handle is resolved from the TXT record of your domain, it should be checked periodically by Bluesky. And if that check fails because the TXT record is gone, your handle is not valid anymore.
I've had a "Unable to resolve handle" every time I try to change it. My website's navigable and I have both DNS and text file set appropriately.
Using https://bsky-debug.app/handle, found itsa DNS issue where...no name servers are found.
There's extremely few diagnostic tools or documentation for the times when it doesn't work...
