We have a problem with the word "Capitalism".

Marx mentioned Adam Smith more than 100 times in Das Kapital.

Smith wrote "read, write and ACCOUNT" FIVE times & used the word 'education' EIGHTY Times.

Without mandatory accounting in schools it ain't Capitalism!
Smith knew Capitalists were LIARS!

I know the trend every year is to co-copt MLK Jr. as a means of legitimizing one's own worldview, but I'm tired of his legacy being whitewashed as one that was wholly peaceful, calm and achieved through (at the time) legal means. His marches rightfully led to riots, to occupations, sit-ins, etc.

Oh, absolutely. And many of the protests he engaged in were genuinely illegal at the time.

So this idea that he only used peaceful channels and didn't circumvent the law is a false view of him, even if he was ideologically speaking, a pacifist.

It's an incredible propaganda victory for the state, co-opt famous revolutionary figures and de-radicalise them, and then condemn people for using the exact same methods.

...and it's those revolutionary actions (and often violence) that led to legislation being changed. Marches are not enough on their own. Boycotts are not enough on their own. Peaceful protests are not enough on their own.

...the reason why conservatives and christians like to co-copt his speeches is that in their view, he was a pacified black man. One of the "good ones." The legacy Malcolm X has received from those same people is that he was a terrorist, despite the two's messaging having a lot of converging points.

One of the greatest crimes of society is that we blot out and never mention Dr. King’s criticisms of what we are and only lionize his hopeful allusions because Americans cant handle criticism of the system in any form or fashion, and need to be told over and over how good they are and or can be.

Oh yeah, absolutely-- Americans have largely only internalized the sayings or sentiments that make them feel comfortable, not the ones that confront our very systemic and widespread problems.
