Don't forget local party committees! And arguably, that's the easiest to run for since most aren't full. It's a great in to have direct contact with elected officials, and you're likely to meet lots of like-minded cool people

There is an odd inverse relationship in that the far right realize authoritarianism works from the bottom up and the far left seems to disdain lower positions as if a sufficiently left-wing president could bring Socialist utopia single-handedly.

School boards and state houses are vital to progress.

School board races typically have low voter turnout (for a host of reasons), which means winning a seat doesn't take a ton of votes. You can organize to defeat bad members or protect good members right now. And school boards matter a lot!

A key part in any plan to take the country back from the brink is that you have to build a strong local community and get not-fascists into local positions of authority.

It protects your home while also putting a lot of baby politicians into position, hopefully starting some on career paths.

The DNC ceded the local game in many of places, causing, among other things, a generation gap in the party due to a lack of maturing pols to step in and take their places as party members aged.
