I’m extremely disappointed with Albanese’s flippant and glib dismissal of a Royal Commission into the childcare industry. The coercive powers of an RC are needed because of the failure of State governments to properly enforce standards and the need to hold owners of private centres to account.

Transport. Water. Power. Banking. Health. Education

None are cheaper. None provide better service. None actively operate on behalf of their clientele

Childcare and aged care are essential community services which governments should provide.

The quality of "care" for pre-schoolers and the aged by private companies is second to their responsibility to make a profit for their shareholders.

This profit comes from taxpayers.

Australia needs more people who work in positions of power in essential services such as Education Childcare and the healthcare sector who have the capacity to think beyond their next pay cheque. Individuals that speak up are effectively shut down as it stands
