tbh it's not something that bothers me. There are so many delivery mechanisms for games now that as long as it feels substantive and distinct enough then I'm like "yeah idk that seems like a game to me. It's got the vibe of a video game".
Definitely! Especially if they're in the same ballpark as FFVII, which is a fundamentally different game from its original counterpart. DLCs, though... I think they should have their own category (which should include new campaigns for remasters like sonic x shadow generations 🥲)
Normally I would say no. However, I feel like it should really depend on the length and scale of the DLC. Cause in today’s standards, Shadow of the Erdtree was as long as, if not longer, than a whole lot of today’s full game releases.
So in this instance, I think I’m okay with it
Yeah, that would probably be the best way to go about it. Maybe add a few more rules in there. Like also require that a set amount of new content is added as well (besides just the new map and store, of course.) like a set amount of new gear, weapons, abilities, gameplay modifiers, etc.
I think it's fine, as long as this is the standard moving forward in terms of DLCs. As for remakes, I think when you take an old game and basically build it from the ground up basically making it a new game, like RE2 or SH2, then yes, it's fine! "Remakes" like TLOU Part 1 would be more odd.
Remakes are fine, because a good remake can take something pretty good and elevate it to the extraordinary. But DLCs feel like they should get their own category. They’re not (typically) a whole *game* imo
