I go back on YouTube every so often to rewatch the timelapse for this work. I love how you tackled all the elements, especially the lighitng and water π
Daymn this image is a masterclass on light and shadow, Just spent about 5 minutes looking at the background trees and leaves to figure out how you've managed that with brushes I think I have (or at least i have similar ones) π
I had to come back and comment on this since I just remembered, but I need you to know this is, no joke, one of my all time favorite pieces of art in existence and I'm so glad it's posted here for me to see again and appreciate.βΊοΈ
I think there's so much to like about this. It has one of the best lighting studies I've ever seen on a character and background and there's so much weight and depth through the whole composition that I don't see with a lot of pieces. It's hard to describe, but it's captivating in its details.
I see! Interestingly, the lighting doesn't look like what I envisioned (does it ever, though?), but I'm glad it doesn't. Study is a good word for it. My imagination got lectured, haha. I'm glad people find the result nice, memorable even π³
For a while, I wanted to post these detail shots from the progress video, but I couldn't find the files, so I finally bit the bullet and recreated them. I'm very resistant to biting bullets
this creature....is probably one of my favorite creatures i've seen around, since the very first time i saw him i don't know how many years ago. i love him so much, and this picture is *gorgeous*!
Gosh I love everything about this, but the foliage has to be my favourite part, it's just so vibrant!
The water and wings are fantastic as well, what an amazing painting π
