I like to think (in my Bluesky head cannons) that he grew up becoming an increasingly proficient artist, but he continued to paint on his dad to this day. Just beautiful murals, as a parental temporary tattoo. Don’t you dare insult the masterpiece on my beak, or whatever.

Canonically, Phoenix uses Griffin for tattoo practice, she's more artistically inclined. Ryan was encouraged to find what he likes to do creatively, and he gravitated more toward music.
