it's a nice accessibility feature don't get me wrong but it does make me start to wonder how far this will end up going before we just get to the point where we're providing the option to remove everything scary from the "horror" game.

Some people liked my previous games because they had some heavy jumpscares (puppet combo style), I wanted to stay as loyal as possible to my fanbase but also I understood it could be a bit annoying for other kind of survival horror players, the more players can enjoy the game, the better!

ah, gotcha. it's a nice feature, especially since some people feel like jumpscares are cheap and unimpactful (which isnt always true). I was more so just posing a general question not specific to your game in the vein of "what's the point of a scary game if it's not scary?"

Yeah, that's the thing with me, @bayside.bsky.social. Unfortunately jump scares in most horror games these days are very poorly made and they take me out of the immersive, tense atmosphere instead. Selewi does it right.

In, say, Fears to Fathom for example, I'd 100% turn them off. They're bad.

This option is nice! I feel like horror games can definitely be creepy and scary without jumpscares. One or two well timed jumpscares can be impactful, however, if it relied heavily on it, it makes me feel like it's not that good of a game imo.
