NEW: Premier Doug Ford's bike lane removal law has now been passed by the Ontario legislature.
The government has been preparing to remove three lanes: University Ave. Bloor St. and Yonge St.

at this point, I'm very interested in seeing the ontario PCs lose in the spring election. at the very least, have the majority government toppled so bills like this can't get rammed through again. that's the real goal we advocates need to work towards here for the long-term.

Only possible if the NDP and Liberals band together and strategically drop out.

Then pass ranked choice voting and we can have a more representative government / end strategic voting.

I think vote splitting is the real problem. In the last election, there were so many GTA suburbs which voted 30% Lib, 31% NDP, 32% PC, the rest green. The centre and progressive vote cannibalizes itself and the parties are about equally popular.

I personally suspect only like 1% of voters in Ontario care about bike lanes enough for this to have an effect, but I would bet they're all in that belt of suburban GTA that he needs to carry the election.

it's true, but it's just another tick on a list of, perhaps, more captivating issues like housing, congestion (there's certainly a way to message blame onto the province), healthcare, and some general cost of living issues. but yea, bike lanes aren't the be-all end-all

Make every street a side street (with appropriate traffic calming) with 20kmph speed limits. you don't need to build bike lanes at that speed. :)
