Ah yes. The tau do give retirement but only after decades of service and when you reach a high rank of the caste you are in. There's even a Tau sept, Au'taal, where retired commanders end up going to live a peaceful life (though are still required to mentor and give out advise to young commanders)
And before you say "Serving in sept Au'taal seem like an easy job", you gotta remember, it's a sept that EVERY tau look up to for retirement. The fire warriors of Au'taal are very fierce defenders and are seen as the defenders of paradise. It's a very big responsibility!
Wow, today I learned that the Tau have a retirement sept. Maybe my Water Caste would go there someday...
I wonder about the retirement rules for auxiliaries too. Maybe they also get to retire after reaching a high rank or serving for a certain number of years
I always assumed it'd work like the Roman empire, after their time served they can retire as true citizens, and their heirs would also be considered full T'au. Now, the likes of Kroot and Vespid may not even want that, but it's an option. Those that don't likely get other perks, gotta motivate them.
I am not sure what is the rule for the auxiliaries but I am sure they still get something close to a retirement that's better then an Imperium retirement (fight until they die)
Some guards do get to retire they often serve has the base of the administration of a planet secured from rebels. They will however never see their home planet again. Higher rank generals can also retire on paradise planets.
