If there is one major thing I would also point to, it’s the extreme focus on suicide threats when justifying youth transition, which made it seem like emotional blackmail by mentally unstable kids rather than explaining the positive physical and social lifelong impact of early transition and passing

Nearly all rhetoric on youth transition has been “trans kids will die” and “would you rather have a live child or a dead child” or “kids will kill themselves if not given blockers or hormones”, not about passing and integration and avoiding later medical expenses and risks.

No it’s also about lost years, pain, about avoiding tons of surgery people mostly can’t afford, not being able to socially integrate, not being seen or treated as an actual woman or man (as people who don’t pass tend to not actually be seen as their transitioned to sex, except in a pity sense).

The “what is a woman” definition fiasco was very poorly answered, because it hinged on the “trans people change gender not sex” argument which is extremely alienating. Self id is a real thing, no requirements to change even birth certificates and IDs

If one doesn’t pass then one is not actually existing in society as the sex opposite one’s birth, except to the degree people subjectively take pity or accept them socially. I really don’t get what you think I am arguing. I am not saying they don’t deserve dignity. But it matters a lot in real life.

The litterboxers were always against trans rights and trans women. The people in the middle with low investment or who were on the fence came into the debate with the classic understanding about brain sex and trapped in the wrong body and sex changes. And it became something totally unrecognizable.
