FALLOUT 4 (2015)
I used to think that Fallout 4 was just boring and mid; I realize now that I owe Fallout 4 a sincere apology, because I vastly underestimated just how ghoulish, soul-sucking, and creatively bankrupt it truly is deep down. Existential nightmare masquerading as a "video game".

On one hand, Cour 2 of Vanitas does things right that Cour 1 never did; it's almost gripping at parts, even. But on the other hand, the themes & worldbuilding are still complete hogwash and the tonal dissonance is at its absolute nadir here.

There's some actual clever mechanics with the occasionally solid gag and a decent, if floaty, gameplay loop. A shame, then, that Justin Roiland's relentless, unfunny improv frequently breaks the illusion reminds you how shallow and pandering High on Life really is.

It's like... *almost* a unique satire on content creation, reality shows, and Hollywood exploitation? But it's too preoccupied with making poorly-aged references and locker-room offensive quips to really do anything with its intriguing hook.

Motorcity is overflowing with style and flair, and its world and themes have a unique, compelling edge to them for a Disney XD cartoon. Motorcity was clearly a troubled production, however, lacking focus and direction and ending on a menagerie of unresolved plot points.

Features a solid, uniquely sad and experimental hook for a kids' movie plot, and I can't help but admire the dreamlike yet emotionally mature way the film approaches its themes of grief, loss, and the acceptance thereof. Well-choreographed Pokemon battles, too!

A brisk, intriguing read that mostly manages to capture the unique anime-noir feel of Darker Than Black. In typical DtB fashion, though, the ending is trippy & kinda confusing and the more NSFW material and themes are handled... sloppily, to say the least.
