The 13 presidential libraries from Hoover through George W. Bush are federal institutions, not private; so, yes, any incumbent administration has authority over them.

And Obama does not have an official federal presidential library (no FPOTUS after GWB does, or will, under current policy).

Thank you. I Googled Obama and Clinton and got addresses for their libraries, but not formal notification that they're "official." So Trump can fuck up every other pre-W one he can get his tiny hands on and it's OK. And demolish the MLK Memorial and Washington Monument. They're federal, right?

The Obama Center is a private institution with no archival component, and no federal presence.

While there are laws and regulations governing the presidential libraries and national monuments, Trump ignores or violates every law, so. 🤷‍♂️

NARA operates and maintains them, but does not own each and every building and/or land upon which each is built. Some were outright gifts, but most are a complex partnership arrangement.

If he tried that at the LBJ Library, for instance, the University of Texas at Austin would hook 'em.

They are building Obama’s library now in Jackson Park, down the street from the museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. I’m shocked Trump hasn’t attempted to shut down construction.

The private Obama Foundation is building the private Obama Center, which isn't a presidential library. It won't be federal, and there won't be any archives on the premises nor a NARA presence.

And during his first term, Trump did delay construction, by withholding the federal permits.

Yes, the Carter Center, and the Carter Library & Museum are two completely separate institutions on the same campus.
