Cold water. There are other things you can do for stubborn stuff, just ask again if that’s the case.

Water for 90% of the cleaning! Ink mostly rinses right out unless it's been sitting for a long time. :) Or if I need extra oomph, water with a little bit of Windex (so for a mugful of water, like two squirts.) And then rinsing with regular water.

(But this does get back to why I often recommend a TWSBI as a starter pen: SUPER easy to get all the pieces apart and get it REALLY REALLY CLEAN and then you're good to go again!)

Whelp, too late. The barnacles have mutinied & have turned the poop deck into an algae-and-nudibranch mural depicting the Great Anemone Clone Wars in a neo-cubistic style augmented by performative water spurts. The nudibranches dance & sing every hour to Gilbert & Sullivan tunes.
It’s won awards.
