while i agree that sensibility-wise, Friendship is very similar to I Think You Should Leave, likening it to a series of sketches, or even one long sketch, is a mistake

lmaoooo, the ending really seals it, too, because in that moment Rudd is still abiding by purely transactional social rules, but Robinson’s character doesn’t understand that at all, he thinks it’s real
and he’s not even that wrong to be confused!
the film, though, explores this as a very real and dark fact of the median American male experience
