Back in 2000-2010 when NHS was properly funded there wasn’t a problem for cataract surgery & no need for the Private sector to ‘rescue’ the NHS

Then the NHS needed ‘saving’ by private providers
This is Government run and influenced by the the business sector who fund politicians for financial gain
The problem is how well it is spent. Cataract contracting out may be a good example of bad spending choices.
Failure to invest in cost saving infrastructure in previous decades, therefore healthcare costs more due to less investment in the right things leading to worse outcomes & reduction in life expectancy

The NHS needs more good managers more than it needs more doctors. And it desperately needs more capital spend.
