you see polling for political ideologies that give liberal/democrat and conservative/republican (sometimes accompanied by libertarian and apolitical) and it kind of feels like a deliberate choice by these institutions to prevent any actual subversive ideologies from developing

the justification for keeping any left ideology out of the "overton window" is that they also keep fascism out (and thus they are not biased against the left or the right) as if it's not also an ideological choice to conflate left ideologies like communism, anarchism, etc with fascism

Yeah, exactly. They really want to put communism on the same level as fascism. They constantly talk about the death toll of 'communism', for example, but capitalism is totally fine.

there's a concept called the double genocide theory which describes attempts to conflate the actions of nazi germany with the actions of the soviet union, which became useful for both nazi apologists and people who wanted to position fascism as being ideologically closer to communism than capitalism

like with fukuyama's the end of history and the last man, the purpose is less to proclaim the virtues of capitalism, but to assert that no other society is possible, to assert that the capitalist world they live in and benefit from will be eternal
