The lesson here isn’t that disabled and immunocompromised ppl don’t matter. It’s that if you open the door to the state to eliminate them, the state will use that entry to eliminate you too

I see now that any one of us can suddenly find that things have changed and we need support. But we just tend to imagine that it doesn't concern us and never will, rather than thinking about why it's important in general to care about these things.

Hey, I’m the same! Having a child with Down syndrome in 2012 was my wake-up call. I wish I’d known before, but I made disability one of my PhD subfields and learned a lot. We all start somewhere!
