How r the congressppl from SC going to vote on this bill that would make it more difficult for married women in SC to vote?
The bill would require Americans to show documents like a passport or a birth certificate to register or re-register to vote. More than 21 million Americans don’t have these documents readily available. 2/
My birth certificate is marked because of the circumstances of my adoption and most places don't accept it because of that mark.
To have a usable one requires a more expensive process that involves jumping through a number of hoops. I have my birth certificate now, but I'm in trouble if I lose it.
I would think drivers license. I also wonder how many senior citizens don’t have driver’s license or any other ID? And how many of those have taken the time or can afford some other ID. There are many functioning seniors who will be impacted along with those who immigrated here.
Naturalized citizens or elderly. People whose parents didn’t or couldn’t maintain good records for them will need to order BC. A barrage of requests may overwhelm the state offices.
The bill’s requirement that voters produce these documents “in person” would also upend most voter registration methods — including registering online and by mail. 4/
The SAVE Act would be the first voter suppression bill ever passed by Congress. Lawmakers should be protecting the freedom to vote — not restricting it. We urge Congress to reject the SAVE Act. 5/
Talking about such a fascist move is pointless. Action is required. Any political party operating under such an obvious grab for power is a clear and present danger to the world and should BE DISSOLVED and permanently legally barred from participating in American politics.

The Act requires evidence of citizenship. My state will surely add photo ID. Today I learned that in order to obtain a passport/"Real ID" containing my BIRTH NAME, I must have a court order. That's because I changed my name at marriage and I did not divorce. HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A WOMAN SCORNED!
OMFG. How much more BS do we have to see spewing from this administration? I didn't agree with everything Biden did, but I did not have to worry about liberties stripped like I do now. Everyone with a Republican't rep better let them know to grow a pair and vote this down.
along with your birth certificate you'll have to provide legal documents attesting to your name change, ie, like a marriage license or other court document.
That happened to my wife. She's Russian and some years back when renewing her Russian passport, they changed their document requirements without notice.
So every married woman that day(and going forward) in the SF consulate left with their updated passport in their maiden name.
If it passes it will be inconvenient but don’t let them stop you. Get whatever you need to be able to vote. Needed to show my marriage license to get a drivers license in New Jersey. Thought it was outrageous then and that was over 30 years ago.

It meant older people( most likely to vote Con)could use a bus pass to register but students (most likely vote Labour) couldn't.
As well as other anomalies, now it is unfair.

Had to go to the county recorder to get what was now considered a certified copy.
Took half a day to get there, find parking, wait in line and get back home.

Also, talk to someone you know about this and the impacts. Most people *do not know* what is happening. Your voice is needed in DC and locally.
