Looks great and I am sure it will be a very nice RPG. Seeing that Unknown Realm seemed to take forever to make I started an engine like that a while back using their graphics just as a starting point to see what it would take. This is how far I got with that. High res mode works brilliantly.

Nice! Watched the video, LOVE the style, liking the decreasing intensity of effect of the spells. And yeah, figured the ease of dispatching *fire daemons* was likely a "while testing" thing rather than final game.

Loved the Ultimas (and the more casual Questrons). Still have the box for IV.

It's Lua, which is built on the ANSI C API. I love C but Lua is intended to be way friendlier and very versatile on the high-level. Pico-8 has an amazing community and you can look at all the code whenever you open a game, it's so sick
