You're right Kenny, natural depletion of a mature basin for sure, thanks for the clarification. Accelerated recently by disincentives to invest. In any case we need to electrify heat to reduce gas demand and import dependency.

Electrify 👍 but also look at Geothermal, heat networks and building houses so they are better insulated. Lots of exciting Geothermal developments in Texas USA at the moment using all the clever drilling talent from the Oil and Gas industry there. Why not Scotland ?
Interestingly I know 2 people on my street in the O&G drilling community who are now working on overseas geothermal projects. It’s an obvious career transition pathway.
Agreed, the fiscal regime is still important wrt investment, jobs and economic value. Labour’s vision for the UK to become a clean energy superpower is welcome but it makes little sense to cut back support for the UKCS while we still need to import expensive and carbon intensive gas like LNG.
