I've never believed a word that Trump and his sycophants utter. He has to lie to maintain the headline. A relative of his said he gets grumpy if he's not headline news.
The generally bonkers nature of the announcement, absurd history, random selection of numbers, and bizarre future visions add up to the picture of an administration totally divorced from economic reality.
And what would be the point of making a deal in the first place? The US violates them on a whim. I completely agree, the best option is for nations to deepen trade ties with one-another and minimise exposure to the US.
Canada and Mexico may have escaped the worst, which would be a pretty big change from a couple of months ago. So maybe Trump didn't renounce the USMCA he signed.
He already violated that trade agreement & just added an additional violation by way of cars/car parts. Stellantis just announced at least a two week layoff at their Windsor Canada plant. But yes, we all need to trade with other countries & leave the US out, as much as possible.
Starmer needs to wake up and smell the coffee. And at the same time, if he's politicking, he should be shouting from the rooftops about the ludicrous assertion that Badenoch made today about the Tory US trade deal
The entire US right wing media ecosystem is based on making up a world they can be angry about, and now they are in power with grudges against that fantasy.
There ends the "greatest" Trump USMCA agreement. Looks like some folks in the US are going to find out the very hard way what these tariffs will do to them, their families, their friends. If it's any consolation, men, women, children in other countries may suffer as well.
Donald Trump is, basically, withdrawing the US from world trade and the American people will pay with, either much higher prices, much lower quality, or simply have to go without.

Did they just spin a globe and roulette wheel then stuck the two outcomes together?
Neville the second.
At least you are optimist.
That sums up Trump perfectly!
