I think it’s a good counterweight to “science is so broken we can’t know anything”, replacing it with a realistic “science is often quite broken but we can still know things, at least when it comes to skincare”

Nice. There have been, however, many cases where proxy outcomes misled us into thinking that something works and it didn't - the latest example are anti-amyloid antibodies in Alzheimers.
