I will say that from the concept art I’ve seen that there were some pretty solid ideas there. Demeter being the film’s possible protagonist is interesting due to how she’s the one with a more subtler backstory revolving Macavity. Btw I have been drawing that Demeter design a lot hehe.

Thank you! I will say, after watching the musical, I do understand why it was so hard to adapt, but I would love to live in a world where both the animated film and the 1998 film co-existed.

Seeing that the actual stage musical has been closed for years, that video is the closest thing to seeing the production anyone who’s never been to Broadway will ever get.

The musical actually did a recent US tour from 2019-2023 and there’s a new adaptation of it called “Cats: The Jellicle Ball”, so it’s still going on in some way.
