amusingly it puts a lot more strain on your picking arm when you're doing any quick rhythm sorta strumming for any prolonged time, negating the saved energy of being upright. at least in my experiences.
I used to do calisthenics with my guitar before we got a standing bike. Its a good workout just moving the whole instrument round while you jog in-place XD
