I’ve been saying this for years. Imagine doing life in a Colorado jail on cannabis crimes whilst the state prints money selling it. How is that not cruel punishment?

There is a hidden issue here. In states where weed has been legalized, enforcement against the unlicensed trade has dropped significantly. So the people who want to be regulated and pay taxes & fees can’t compete and lose money. So in a legal state, should the illegal dealers be prosecuted? Tricky.

Surely it's feasible to get bi-partisan support for an Amnesty on this? I'd like to see who'd vote against it. I don't think it would do their career any good. I don't think I've met anyone in the real world or even online that thinks prison is appropriate for weed.
