Compared to the only other viable party in the US? Dems absolutely are serving the people. In small ways, but generally things improve under Democratic presidencies. That doesn't mean they don't need to ditch their donors and embrace the working-class. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.

We have two parties alright but it’s not Democrats vs Republicans (about a 50/50 split). It’s more Progressives vs Corporation Reps (more like a 5/95 split). Lots of est. Dems and Reps “work” for the same boss, and changing the current status quo is unfortunately NOT part of their job description.

ACA helped a lot of people, but you know what would have helped me people? Actually implementing the health care system reforms the public asked for instead instead rebranding a republican health care reform. Yes it was better for many, but wasn't what the people asked for.

They didn't need a supermajority to pass the ACA with Obama, and it passed with only 1 Republican supporting it in the House. Clearly, they could have passed M4A, but they didn't want to. They passed a Republican plan instead. Republicans only voted against because it didn't have their name on it.

One of the primary functions of the Clintonite right, which has held hegemony over Dems at the national level for decades, is to block, hamstring, prevent, attenuate and preclude needed progressive reforms on behalf of the donor class (which opposes such reforms).

they haven't been serving the people at least since I've been old enough to vote. Even the ACA was just a handout to insurance companies and now the mainstream party feels the need to defend Obama's legacy, which means they need to fight back against any attempts to change the system we have.
