Here's more descriptive instructions. In Calibre, go to Preferences, then Plugins at the bottom. Expand File Type to find DeDRM. Select it, and choose Customize plugin. Select the button for e-reader matching yours (mine is a Kindle eInk) and enter the serial number. Restart and it should work. - ThreadSky

This is happening to me on my Mac. What are you running? I’ll try some different options to see if I can get passed it. Mine crashes when I click customize plugin. There seems to be an issue with loading the library.

I'm on a Mac as well. I downloaded the most recent calibre. I'm going to try an earlier version next. I'll try tomorrow and see what happens. It may just be getting the right combination of versions of both calibre and the plugin.

Got it! There’s a pre release for version 10.0.9

First uninstall the 7.x plugin. Then close calibre

Then go back to GitHub and grab version 10.0.9 follow directions from the video.

It got me past the crash not sure if it fully works yet.

I’m not having any luck. I finally got it to the point where I can configure the plugin. Trouble is I don’t have an actual kindle. I have the kindle app for my Mac and my iPad. I tried the kindle for mac/pc ebooks but it asked for a default encryption key & I have no idea what they are talking about

Same & with that being said you don’t need to click the kindle ink part (in fact no customization of the plug in is technically needed).

The issue becomes located the files on your Mac & getting them into calibre. Honestly this is where it’s touch and go. I can absolutely get some to work not all

I got about a third of my books done but 2/3rds I’ve run into another issue with so I’ll work on it some more tomorrow as well.
