It was a terrible idea for Europe to become reliant on Russian fuel in the first place. Years ago asked if it was a sensible to rely on fuel from a hostile neighbour.

NATO bordering russia isn't a 'mistake'. It was something bound to happen as russia is an expansionist empire and NATO, a conglomerate of countries who would rather not be invaded.
I could be wrong, but my understanding is that America interfered in those neighboring countries (using its soft-power but most likely also using CIA shenanigans, like they always do), expanding NATO unnecessarily and threatening Russia to cut them off from the Black Sea.
USSR collapsed. NATO did not 'expand'. Countries joined. Using 'NATO expansion' pushes the false russian narrative. My point was not about corruption, it was about how 'NATO expasion" is a lie. A lie endlesly repetend by russian propaganda, which is very prevalent in Irish circles. You are aware?
2nd line is correct but NATO expansion wasnt why Russia attacked - they had got away with taking Crimea to keep dominance in the Black Sea they could have stuck with just that - their attack in 2022 lost them the Black Sea
When did non-nuclear Ukraine ever threaten to shut off the Black Sea from russia? Look at the geography. Russia has shown imperialist ambitions against Europe for three hundred years. Ask Poland, Finland, Baltic states.

Countries willingly join NATO, primarily in response to Russian aggression.
Maybe Russia brutalizing its neighbors?

To be clear, I think Putin sucks.
But I don’t think want to live in a world governed by the American empire.
They are objectively bad for the world.
Requirements for joining NATO include numerous anti-corruption mechanisms within the applicant's government.
This is why Russia was not simply admitted into NATO and refused to apply just like everyone else.

America think they own the world and refuse to admit its mistakes.

Why would you trust any of these morally bankrupt empires?
