True NHS is in bad shape. But what about the question as to whether we should be keeping old people alive just for the sake of continuous hospital visits for their last life years.

The attempt to marketise the NHS was and still is a failure. But, the economies of scale can still be leveraged if we localise treatment and priority setting, nationalise funding and base standards, and regional provision of setting up local treatment and diagnostic hubs inside the NHS

The origins of failure in the NHS stem back to the ‘Total Quality’ of the mid/late 90s espoused by Blair. Worked for all business models, incl. public sector/NHS.
All good but the trouble was in identifying realistic costs, and my fellow accountant/number crunchers ran riot=chaos/turf protection.
