1. There’s an argument I want to discuss. It goes something like this: Donald Trump’s policies are going to alienate some of the people who voted for him.

I see what you are saying for sure, but history tells us the administration will find a way to blame Biden and his voters will go along with it. When prices go up in the stores and at the pump we need our own “Tarrifs did this”only using Trumps face so the simple understand. It’s in the messaging.
The clear lesson of Brexit is that people will continue to favor a failed policy for a long time, in part because "failed" is often defined by their enemies
If a Trump voter gets more psychic satisfaction from owning the libs then they lose in higher prices, who is to say trump failed them ?
We’ve been forced on this rollercoaster-to-hell so we’ll find out soon enough, but I think you’re right.
Thanks for ending my 2-week embrace of FAFO accelerationism🫤.
2. To be sure, many of them wanted something done about the economy. Prices were too damn high. But they didn’t sign up for tariffs, deportations and cuts to social services, like food stamps.
Until proven otherwise, I don’t believe folks who voted for Trump did so because of the economy. If they were so motivated, the GOP would not have run demonizing Trans folks, deporting immigrants and ridiculing DEI.
4. Why are we expecting so much from Trump voters? I’m not making a distinction between his base and those who chose to go along for the ride. I mean all of his supporters, and I’m asking: Why should we place our democratic faith, and the future of the republic, in their hands?
5. It’s not like Trump had an agenda to bring down the cost of living. All he said was “Make America Great Again.” Deport “illegals.” Suppress transgender rights. Beat down weak and marginalized folks. Voilà!
6. His one economic plan was tariffs. A tax on imported goods from China and elsewhere *will* raise prices on everything, not just imports, as retailers *will* gouge us under cover of inflation.
7. Tariffs are the opposite of what you do to reduce costs. And that’s why he lied. Trump said nations would pay the tax, not companies bringing goods in.
But they DID sign up for this. These were not secret plans. Trump made much of how "tariff" had become his favorite word, and the entire congregation at the GOP convention waved MASS DEPORTATION signs. Were they just too stupid to see that a vote for Trump was a vote to make it happen? JFC!
Obviously they did sign up for tariffs, deportations and cuts to social services. That was why they marked Trump/Vance on their ballots. They were trying to show up the "Libs". Now they must face the consequences.
Actually trump’s voter did sign for those and more: like Constitution to be suspended, gen Miley to be executed, us getting a bloodbath, etc. trump was very opened about tariffs, deportations and cuts to all social things !!!

My question is why.
His voters chose to believe him.
If his supporters lose their healthcare, pay more for goods, trump will blame Biden & Dems.
