I don't know the exact reason, but Trump's bullshit-and bluster persona found significant purchase among Latino male voters. I'm tempted to assume the resonances flow out of machismo culture and it's disturbing AF. What's even more horrible is that these pendejos would vote the same way again.

A significant part of the problem is that too many voters choose a candidate based on very superficial criteria--the "first" impression, almost purely emotionally grounded, dictates how the message is perceived. Nuance counts against you. The more cartoonish the candidate, the more he's accepted.

Others have pointed it out but it bears repeating: Trump's tenure on The Apprentice provided a cartoonish but nevertheless compelling "can do" persona that resonated among some viewers. That created a baseline of "familiar outrageousness" for Trump that he's drafting on up to the current moment.
