Movie is 3rd date material. Small dinner, maybe 1 drink close to theater. Not too serious, not a recent release. Preferably ard 9pm start time so it isnt too late when its over.
It’s a good way to check compatibility for me: talking during the show; chewing loudly; laughing at disturbing things, etc.
One guy actually grabbed an empty cup at the concession so that he could spit into it while chewing tobacco during the show 😭
My last date before marriage, when I met my current mate, was a movie date. We watched Terrifier 2 and felt the connection, as we watched the connections in humans be severed. Magical date night experience.
There’s a commercial where a man and woman meet for a blind date outside a movie theater, watch the movie together, then hug and go their separate ways without ever speaking. Every time I see it I’m like, “Was that the worst date or the best?”
It sounds better than 90% of the interactions I have online dating. They both showed up to something they mutually enjoyed- they didn't argue or breadcrumb, no scams or financial exploiting, no phone staring, no politics, actually managed to coordinate a meeting... 🤔
I like going to the movies alone sometimes, but for a date, IDK if it's a movie you both want to see. Yeah, but I think it's one of those rookie mistakes some people make. Unless it's an early showing and you have other plans, like dinner afterwards, it could be good as an icebreaker at first.
I also think they're one of the best solo things to do. It's to the point where I almost don't WANT to go to a movie with anyone LOL. Mind you...I'm done with 'dating', too so...
From considerable
experience, it's usually introverts who are rather needy - and yes whiny sometimes too.
Extroverts on the other hand, tend to turn a trip to the theatre into an adventure.

Definitely sat together though. No idea what we were watching.
Heaven to me: sitting in a state-of-the-art movie theatre and watching a movie ALONE.
All the propaganda -- from whiny, clingy, needy extroverts -- about "the communal experience" of watching a movie is utter balderdash.
