That SSNs aren't necessarily unique is old news. That some undocumented workers and ID fraudsters use SSNs unauthorized is also old news. From the standpoint of SS payments it isn't fraud.

As someone who works i tech, a lot of his statements remind me of conclusions I have jumped to (*and kept to myself*) in the initial stages of exploring a problem space. Conclusions I was very happy that I didn't share. "Oh wow I can't believe I was naive enough to think that early on."

I mean it’s not even clear what he means by ‘the database’ here. SSNs are going to be on a lot of records processed by the government and I certainly hope they can handle things like ‘this SSN is associated with more than one address’. Humans are messy creatures, databases need to handle that.

He compounds upgrading the “it could happen” (where he ignores the possibility of other checks) to “it is happening” by using words like “massive” and “ripoff”. He’s an outright demagogue.
And I’m guessing of bad intent.
