The story might have been too ambitious for it's own good trying to emulate the vibes of 2, 3 and 5 all in the same overlapping narrative BUT damn if it wasn't the best feeling RE gameplay at the time. I sank hours into 6's Mercenaries Mode, probably the only one I got kind of good at LOL
