I agree - and I think the key to this is everyone understanding their (and your) job role. Leadership/management can be lonely, and being ‘friends’ with people you line manage can be tricky.
Also: breakfast eating when at work. I don’t like that either.

In reality? School leadership is only as compassionate as the people at the top.
This leads to a vast range of experiences and practices.
That said, it doesn't mean letting people take advantage of you.
