It's tradition that Twitter-likes have a #hashtag #system that allows for inline #tagging. But it's detrimental to the user experience of what they want their tagging system to be capable of

It's already almost as functional as Tumblr but inlining tags makes me look embarrassing and putting them at the end uses a bunch of extra characters

technically you can just embed a hashtag as a "facet" into the post and it'll show up, there just needs to be a UI for it. functionally it's there already!
