The toughest boycott for me has been Meta. I use my neighborhood facebook page CONSTANTLY to share freebies & ask opinions. I’ve managed to collect phone numbers for a handful of neighbors & have logged out of Meta for the week, but I still check in for local updates every few days. 😭
Same! We have no local newspaper in my town so the fb community page is the only way to get info sometimes. Discord would be a good alternative, but you’d need a bunch of people to migrate there.
These people have never had to boycott or do anything uncomfortable in their lives. If they gotta start with one day let them do it to get their confidence up. Most people aren’t shopping those boycott stores anymore.
True, but starting small and building is a good way to get folks involved in a movement if they usually don’t bother (or they’re afraid they can’t do without Amazon and need to practice)
It aways amazes me how ppl think not buying a certain product or shopping at a certain store is an actual boycott. What is the goal? Have even said to the institution what you are doing and why? Is it a collective action? If the answer to any of these questions is no or IDK, it's not a boycott.
For sure, but I've also seen it explained that this day on February 28 is a kind of opportunity for people to see how it would fit in their lives for when the real boycotts/strikes take place.
🇨🇦 It's easy for us -- we don't need to pick companies, we can pick an entire nation. I see people in the grocery store, picking things up, reading the label, and putting them back.
We've swapped out California and Florida produce for Mexico, Chile, and Spain.
I keep hearing that the average person needs to first dip their toes into the world of consumer consciousness and get comfortable, but it's way too late for that. Fascists and oligarchs aren't dipping their toes in, they're already comfortable. Make sacrifices today.

Idk where the answer is but I’m canceling things like mad and writing ‘this administration’ as the reason
