I don't think that's true. Google's AI architecture is very different to OpenAI. He was part of a team training LaMDA, which in turn is part of the massive DeepMind machine. There is much more to Google's AI infrastructure than most people realize I think. Demis didn't get a Nobel randomly.

Have to think about this guy every now and then. It was weird to hear that story at first, but we see how models pass Turing test for years now: I’m still amazed every day.
