#RevPit authors, while we're waiting, curious how you picked your #RevPitEditor? The choices were SO TOUGH! I narrowed mine down based on MSWL, likes/dislikes, etc. but still had too many at crunch time. I felt like this in the end 👇

It was so hard to pick. I narrowed it down based on MSWL and ask editors comments which were very helpful. And yet I still made a last minute change because one of the editors liked my pitch so hopefully that was a good decision. ✌🏻
I made a spreadsheet and cross-referenced with all the information I could find. At the end, if they had a “No To:” option that was too close or walked the line to any element I had in my story, I took the safe bet and chose another editor!
I made a color-coded spreadsheet with columns for genre, wishlist items, specific vibes, and editor communication styles to help me narrow it down! SOOO many great choices!
I made a little spreadsheet and sorted different parts of their MSWLs into pros and cons, plus their "looking for," plus anything I was able to find in the ask the editor sessions. Even still my 3rd choice was quite torn!
This year was different for me. I usually lean heavy into the MSWL pros and cons, but I gave more attention to the Editor Bio this year and let my heart pick.
I think I was kind of lucky - there too many #revpit editors that ‘specialised’ in MG Fantasy. I think I shortlisted to 4 or 5, then narrowed further from there! 😀
I went the MSWL mainly, but also the way the editors 'sounded' in their answers- their vibe, whether I'd be comfortable enough asking something or would stay up all night before drafting an email to them! #worrier
Same, chose due to MSWL requests, some comments on the ask the editor segments and any mention of a hard wordcount limit. My wordcount is a tad high, which is one of the things I’m looking to fix with an Editor if possible.
I just searched their wish lists and found some that were strangely very much like my MS. It was really fortunate, and it helped me narrow it down easily!

Have to respect those individual tastes, and I really hope I did!
Did my MC have hard passes for the editors (like triggers/setting) or level of 🌶️
And arranged them from super green to red. In the end, their interaction on BK helped me make my final choice.
But it was hard until the end!
