I too have been burned like this at work and keep my guard up as a result. I love making friends and I collect little coworker soulmates at every job. These days I just move very slowly and don’t give them the unfiltered me until we’ve built trust over time.

I understand how you feel, Ive been in situations where I find it difficult to trust people.

I find it difficult to be myself around my friends so I mask my autism most of the time until I 100% trust them.

I hear ya, it's really hard to trust when you've been burned before. Or several times before like myself because I never seem to learn my lesson. But that doesn't mean that no one is trustworthy 🫂

Everybody needs friends, you never know they might be a good one. We'll always be alone unless we try 🫂 I'd say just take it slow and don't reveal too much until you get a better feel of her trustworthiness.
