the thing that hits home to me about these deportations, is that it mostly happens to the 1.5 gen—the folks who came here as kids, didn’t get naturalized, and was often involved in petty crime.

i feel like part of the reaction to the original thread was like “gosh! they’re even going after The Asians!!!” when in reality, we’ve always been subject to racist immigration laws and enforcement. once again, the model minority myth just obscures that *and* our visibility is much smaller
