I hear you. Singing god's praises despite being brutalized and marginalized is not a way to live though. There is nothing wrong with seeking respite. Faced with never ending brutalization & no prospects for escape, in some of those recipes, there are many that simply chose death.

I think the situation at hand is far more layered than people want to give credit. I think fighting is necessary, but so is understanding who we’re fighting and what company we keep. This country chose this violence after having gone through it once before.

Our ancestors had leverage from this country needing to clean up its image to look like the good guys during the world wars. Now the mask is off and we are disjointed. I feel like our community lacks the conditioning necessary to win the fight right now. I’m just keeping options open.

I hear the concern/worry, and I am not disputing that the fight feels and looks difficult, but it will always be so if we run away from it. That, and the most vulnerable of us CAN'T go anywhere. So, what do we do for them? What is our responsibility to them?
