Any of the X series up to like X4 or 5 - they're definitely a lot more mashy than Metroid though imo so if you have a way of setting up a turbo button may be better for the hands. Great games though

The early and middle X games are very solid. They're pretty much all much more difficult than any Metroid though. Samus can just take and give a lot more damage than Rock can.

I need you to define "hyper old" because like... You're unfortunately not going to find a /really/ good Megan Man that's newer than PS1 era. :(

I'd say the Legends games are pretty solid for PS1 games, if ya like 3D adventure type games.

If you're looking for a 3D action game, Legends is a cute, only mildly clunky game. Worth it for the art. If you're looking for the best 2D Mega Mega experience, I would recommend X4. It was the first PSX game in the series and doesn't have extra bloat. V straight forward gameplay and sprite artwork
