That's laudable, but also we can't hold them close forever. Having a healthy, involved relationship with your kid is only a start - they need social interaction with peers, freedom to develop a self independent of parental involvement/supervision/surveillance. We need to rebuild a whole community.
I wasn't exactly a social butterfly either. My point is more that we need to do more that just be there for our kids 1:1 in the moment. We need to connect with them and also foster a healthy 'community' - whatever form that takes - where they can build connections to a healthy outside world.
It's not "throw them in the deep end," it's investing the time to know and respect your kid as an individual and connect them with a healthy social context where they can thrive - whatever that means to them.
