And Iran "will have no choice but to retaliate," etc.
Netenyahu is 1) pushing for a hot war with Iran (one war winding down, need another one). 2) Making the US look like chumps (and we'll just bend over and say "Thank you sir, may I have another.")
So you think that a military action against Serbia for the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand is not going to lead to a wider war? Clearly, Serbia must be taught a lesson to reestablish deterrence. That's all that's going to happen, right?
I was referring to your two additional statements. Some responses against Iran are likely IMO to spiral out of control. Others not as much. Yet others I'm not sure. And regardless I think Israel would be wise to just take the win on this one as Biden suggested.
The bombing of the embassy (direct strike on Iran, not on proxies) was clearly a provocation inviting a response from Iran. I mean, if Israel's embassy in a third country got bombed like that, would Israel not respond? So Netenyahu is clearly trying to provoke Iran into direct action.
"Israel won't accept an equation in which Iran responds with a direct attack every time Israel strikes targets in Syria" is quite the take. I also declare that I won't accept consequences I don't agree with for my actions.
