Whenever I question current events, I remember that pharmaceutical companies are required to tell patients not to take a drug if they are allergic to it.

Reminds me of a pt who presented with angioedema, had a lisinopril allergy (angioedema), and yet had been taking lisinopril for over a decade. He said that when his tongue started to swell and block his airway, he'd use a butter knife to push it down. Never thought to ask for a safer alternative.
Also had a separate case one time of someone with kidney disease who knew they weren't supposed to take NSAIDs, but were in ever worsening pain, and had been treating the pain to no avail with 440mg naproxen q4-6h x 72h.
Think the pain might be related to the renal failure and GI bleed, friend.
He was so nonchalant and matter of fact about it. The expression on my face was like, "Dude, you could have been controlling your blood pressure all this time without risking a health event if your providers looked at your allergy list and your med list at the same time and considered alternatives."
