Correct. The way I’ve always understood it and the way the rulebook describes it is the strikezone is a pentagonal prism. So height, width, and depth would describe where in that prism the ball entered the zone.

Correct, we are using "depth" to distinguish from "height" and "width" (much like we'd describe the dimensions of a fridge)

If someone wants to offer a different term other then depth, by all means, please do so

The key point is that this is a 2D plane. Once you know that, that removes any ambiguity of the term "depth"

I guess one way to interpret Strike Zone Depth is the distance of the 2D plane from the front edge, which would be consistent with Tango's description and also consistent with the blue line in the picture.
