Yeah. It's always kinda floating in the back of my head. Trying to swap off to more chickpeas and lentils for "fast, easy, cheap protein sources" in our diet. With moderate success.

Efforts in that sector have created, effectively, meat breweries. To be honest I'd be happy to eat insect based alternatives.

in theory I'd be eating some kind of bug mash mixed with a bit of boullion or whatever to make it taste like mammal or avian meat. People eat imitation crab meat and imitation meat made from plants. Don't see why cricket meat is so controversial.

Yeah, and complete honestly, I don't have a ton of knowledge of current research/work here nor am I not going to lose sight of the 'sounds good in theory until get into the details' issue, but I'm not sure we are going to be able to convert all to plant base diets.

as awful as chicken farms can be, the thing is, they don't have to be and eggs are an excellent source of protein. So while I'm all for scaling back meat production it wouldn't be that hard to keep eggs as a staple food crop. I bring up bugs because you can farm those suckers in a drawer.
