When ppl do these public apologies when something happens and they're at fault, they can never fully say it was them. It's deflected to everywhere else. Dawg, you fucked up. Own it. The honest truth will set you free.
Of course ppl fear the public backlash and some will be expected depending one what you did but you make things infinitely worse when you point fingers elsewhere and the evidence still points to you. Personally, I'd have the least bit respect for you if you owned up. Could have some hope of change.
If I fuck up, I'm cool with just saying it. "Yeah, I did that that one time and I regret it", sincerely apologize and be better. It'll take time to rebuild the trust back but that's part of the consequence of the action done. It takes an ego-death to admit when you're wrong.
Some ppl may not fw you anymore and that's ok. You can move forward with a clear conscious and solace knowing you fully addressed it to the best of your ability. The first step is always self-awareness and the next being reconstruction.
You'll be under a watchful eye to see if you revert back to your old ways but that's just how ppl can really tell if they want to consider giving you a second chance. But that also falls on you to prove that change.
The blatant negative is that once you do something on the internet, it's forever. It will follow you and ppl will bring it up since the incident will become a digital footprint with your name attached. No amount of rebranding can truly scrub it away.
